# Categories

Default configuration options for the categories listing view.

The **Categories** tab controls the presentation of the frontend categories list view.

### Display Options

* **Maximum Level** (`categories_maxlevel`) — Defines the maximum depth of category nesting displayed in the categories list (range: `1` to `3`, default: `1`).
* **Category Image** (`categories_show_image`) — Show or hide category cover images in the list.
* **Category Description** (`categories_show_description`) — Show or hide the introductory description for each category.
