# Category Layout Options

Learn how to configure category page layouts and contest listing options in NorrCompetition.

When creating or editing a category, the **Layout Options** tab enables overriding global display settings for the category view and its assigned contests. By default, all options inherit from Global Configuration (*Use Global*).

### General Category Options

* **Title** – show or hide the category heading on the frontend.
* **Default Contest Status Filter** – define the initial filter state when visitors view the category (*All*, *Active*, or *Closed*).
* **Status Filter** – display a frontend filter allowing visitors to filter contests by status (*All*, *Active*, *Closed*).
* **Type Filter** – display a filter allowing visitors to filter contests by media format (*Photo*, *Video*, *Simple*).
* **Pagination** – display page navigation controls (*Hide*, *Show*, or *Auto*).
* **Pagination Limit Box** – show or hide the selector allowing visitors to choose how many contests appear per page.
* **Pagination Results** – display page counter summary (e.g. "Page 1 of 3").

### Contest Display Options (In Category View)

* **Image** – show or hide contest cover thumbnail images.
* **Description** – show or hide contest short descriptions.
* **Information Block** – master toggle to show or hide the contest metadata block. If set to *Hide*, the individual metadata fields below are suppressed.
* **Type** – display contest media type badge (*Photo*, *Video*, or *Simple*).
* **Status** – display contest operational state badge (*Active* or *Closed*).
* **Created Date** – display contest creation timestamp.
* **Start Date** – display contest start date.
* **End Date** – display contest closing date.
* **Voting Start Date** – display voting opening date.
* **Voting End Date** – display voting closing date.

### Subcategories Display Options

* **Subcategories Header** – show or hide the header title for the subcategories list section.
* **Subcategory Image** – display thumbnail images of nested child categories.
* **Subcategory Description** – display short descriptions of child categories.
